Ceramic is a difficult material to control. It is clay from the soil, and by nature a wet, moist material. Through firing, it becomes hard as the particles move and shrink. For our pieces the ceramic needs to be controlled accurately to result in the correct size. Because of this, we work with very experienced craftsmen in Germany and the UK.
The pieces are turned by hand and slowly air-dried before they are glazed and fired.

For the Raku ceramic technique, there is a special process of smoke firing to achieve the interesting surface glaze that is unique in every piece. This is done in a small ceramic studio in northern Germany.
